Job Responsibilities

We are looking for a talented and motivated software engineer to work on the design and implementation of Yahoo! Data Processing infrastructure. Challenges include designing high-performance multi-parallel algorithms and building their fault-tolerant implementations that can scale to handle petabytes of data, and meet the requirements of various Yahoo! businesses. You must be a quick learner, have good communication skills, and be able to maintain ownership of large engineering projects throughout their lifecycle: requirements review, architecture/design, implementation, testing, and post-release maintenance.

In this position, you will be responsible for the following:

- Design, Implement and Deploy data manipulation and transformation algorithms according to required specifications
- Integrate with existing systems to extend current functionality
- Utilize new technologies to expand beyond current limitations


Minimum Job Qualifications

- BS or MS in Computer Science or equivalent
- 2+ years of experience in software engineering industry
- Strong and proven skills with Perl and Object Oriented Programming (C++ and Java)
- Strong knowledge of SQL and relational databases
- Shell scripting and UNIX/Linux
- Excellent problem solving skills

Preferred Job Qualifications

- Good understanding of performance optimization techniques
- Knowledge of JavaScript, JSP, and Web Services (REST, SOAP)
- Experience with Data Warehouses and Data Processing/ETL on large-scale systems
